The Black Spaghetti Strap Dress with Beads
Among the items that Karl alleged Parti stole from him were items of ladies' clothing, including a black spaghetti strap dress with beads.
Karl Liew alleged that Parti stole 120 pieces of clothing from him (item 1 on the 2nd charge sheet): he valued each item at S$150 each. This would total about S$18,000.
The original charge sheet had stated "120 pieces of male clothing valued at S$150 each". The qualifier "male" was later removed without notice being given to Defence.
In Court, only 117 items of clothing were produced: three items that allegedly had been stolen and should have been admitted as evidence had been lost by the time ASP Tang, the investigating officer, went to Karl Liew's house to collect the evidence in April 2018. Out of these three missing items, one was an item Parti claimed belonged to her, a pair of pants.
In the bundle of 120 clothes Karl accused Parti of stealing were women's clothing. Two items belonged to Heather. Ten other items Parti said belonged to her, including a blue corduroy blouse, a white-and-blue striped blouse, and a cream polo T-shirt, among others: this was detailed in a table in Defence's closing submissions to the State Court.
In Court, Karl refused to try on the clothes he claimed were his. He refused to touch them or have them placed in front of him.

The Black Spaghetti Strap Dress with Beads
Karl informed the Court that the item on the uppermost top left hand corner of P1-10 (as the court photograph was labelled), was his.

When Karl realised that the item was a black dress with beads, he tried to explain it as a "mistake", that he had been looking at a different photograph in Court.
The fact remains, however, that it was part of the items Parti was accused of stealing from Karl.
During his re-examination by the Prosecutor, when asked to explain why there were ladies’ clothings that he insisted were in his possession, Karl replied: "I do wear ladies’ clothings, Your Honour."
He then tried to explain this by further stating: “I do wear ladies’ clothings in the T-shirts and even the shirts that my mum buys that are very oversized and big, I wear those shirts out, so these are ladies’ clothings that I do wear out.”
In Court, the black dress was shown to Mdm Ng, Karl's mother. She was asked if she had seen Karl wear this dress and she said "Impossible."
The same dress was shown to Heather, Karl's wife, in Court. She testified that it did not belong to her. Defence asked Heather if it belonged to her husband's Karl, and if she had seen him wearing it. She replied "No, I have not seen him wearing this."
On Day 9, when Liew Mun Leong was on the stand, this exchange took place:
Defence lawyer Anil Balchandani asked Liew Mun Leong: "Karl, in Court, under sworn testimony, told this Honourable Court that he wears ladies’ clothes."
Liew Mun Leong: "I don’t know about that."
Anil Balchandani then continued with the question, asking if Liew had ever seen this.
Liew replied: "I don’t know about that and I disbelieve that."
Parti was asked about this black dress in Court. She testified that she bought it around 2010, at a night market.
